DMG MORI and KONSTANDIN have shared a solid partnership since 2015, encompassing the manufacture and supply of high-precision hydraulic cylinders and a specialized high-precision pneumatic unit.

More than a decade ago, the technology leader based in Pfronten was seeking a pneumatic component manufacturer capable of meeting the specific requirements for a pneumatic unit regarding precision, design, and concentricity. This search led them to KONSTANDIN; following collaborative development and prototype evaluation, serial production of the unit began in 2015—and it continues to be used in new machines to this day.

Application & Challenge

The solution: Maximum precision

… including run-out tolerances of 2 µm – were a major focus not only during the development and design phases but remain an ongoing challenge for series production to this day, governed by a rigorous process.

Following the in-house precision manufacturing of individual components, the various parts pass through several additional stages. Meeting the required specifications for the final product entails various hardening and coating processes, as well as multiple grinding steps. Complex assembly, combined with a highly rigorous documentation and inspection regimen, ensures the exceptionally high quality standard of this special pneumatic unit—and reliably guarantees a zero-defect rate.
